Lexus Cars
Part of Toyota, Lexus is considered to be the luxury brand of the Japanese company. Initially, Lexus cars were sold in the US, but now they’re being delivered in countries all over the world. Lexus cars begun being sold in 1989, with the first model being the Lexus LS. In time, they added a number of other models to their line, including SUV’s, coupe’s and sedans.
Since its beginning Lexus has built a good reputation on the customer service they offer and the reliability of their cars. Their cars aim to provide luxury to their owners, a smooth ride and safety.
Lexus IS - is the entry level compact luxury car from Lexus. It was launched in 1998 in Japan, and in the following years it was also sold in Europe and North America. The second generation is being produced since 2005 and it’s a complete redesign from the first generation.
Lexus ES - belongs to the mid-sized luxury sedans class, and it was introduced in 1989. Right now, Lexus ES is at its fifth generation, which was introduced in 2007, in a completely new design. The designation for the current generation is ES 350.
Lexus GS - launched in 1991, the Lexus GS is a luxury sports sedan, mid-sized, with 4 doors. This model fills the space between the ES and the LS models, in the Lexus line-up. Its main competitors are Mercedes Benz E Class and BMW 5 Series. The current generation is the third one and it was launched in 2006.
Lexus LS - is the flagship car from Lexus, a full sized luxury sedan, which was also the first model to be produced by Lexus in 1989. Consumer Reports called it the most dependable vehicle ever tested, and it was awarded the World Car of the Year in 2007.
Lexus SC - is a personal luxury coupe, produced since 1991. It has 4 seats, a front engine and rear-wheel drive. It comes with a hardtop, which can convert the car into a convertible, making it in effect both a coupe and a convertible.
Lexus RX - a luxury crossover SUV, mid-sized with a front engine and front/all wheel drive. It’s produced since 1997 and it’s also offered in hybrid variants. The third generation will be introduced in 2010 and will have the names RX 350 and 450h (hybrid).
Lexus GX - is a model sold in the US, which belongs to the luxury SUV line. Launched in 2003, the GX is based on the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado platform, and it’s located between RX and LX in the Lexus line-up. A new version is expected to be launched in 2010.
Lexus LX - was introduced in 1996 as a full sized SUV, based in large part on the Toyota Land Cruiser. This is the biggest SUV offered by Lexus, and its also the most expensive. The third and current generation was launched in 2008 and it’s designation is L 570.
