With roots in the 19th century and the first cars that were produced then, Mercedes Benz cars are German in origin and they have brought into regular use a number of safety and technological inventions over the years.
Mercedes Benz cars have always had a good record of durability and quality, being known right now to be one of the most reliable brands in the world. They’re ranked third in the world right now in this category.
Mercedes Benz A Class - a subcompact car, the A Class was launched in 1997, with their latest generation being launched in 2004. It is the cheapest Mercedes Benz model, and it comes in two variants: 5 and 3 door hatchback. As of the second generation, all A class cars come equipped as a standard with ESP.
Mercedes Benz B Class - launched in 2005, the B Class is a compact MPV, based on the A Class model. The official description from Mercedes Benz for this model is "Compact Sports Tourer". The B Class is assembled in Germany and Mexico. The B Class received a facelift in 2008.
Mercedes Benz C Class - introduced in 1993, the C Class is a compact executive car, which replaced the previous 190 model. Before the A Class was launched, the C Class was the smallest model built by Mercedes Benz. The third generation of the model, that is built right now, was introduced in 2007.
Mercedes Benz CL Class - a full size grand tourer, the CL class was launched in 1998 and has the body style of a 2 door coupe with four seats. The latest version was launched in 2007 and it comes with the latest technology that Mercedes Benz has to offer.
Mercedes Benz CLK Class - a mid-sized coupe/convertible with rear wheel drive, the CLK class begun production in 1996. This model is based on the C Class, but in many ways it is closer to the E Class (pricing, engine, style). The current generation of the CLK begun production in 2003.
Mercedes Benz CLS Class - is a luxury executive sized sedan, introduced in 2004. It’s considered to be a four door coupe in design and a sedan in interior space and comfort. It comes equipped with the latest safety features developed by Mercedes Benz, including a smart sensor system that detects accidents and reacts.
Mercedes Benz CLC Class - launched as its own model in 2008, the CLC class was produced since 2002, as part of the C class lineup. The body style is a 3 door liftback, and it’s a compact executive car. This car has a rear wheel drive and a front engine.
Mercedes Benz E Class - the E class is considered to be an executive luxury car, mid-sized, with a front engine and rear/four wheel drive. It was first produced in 1984, and it’s a model used in many countries as a taxi, because of its durability and size.
Mercedes Benz S Class - the largest model that is produced by Mercedes Benz, is also the best selling luxury sedan in the world. It’s well known for the early implementation of new technology developed by the company. The current generation of the S Class was launched in 2007 with a new design.
Mercedes Benz SL Class - with origins dating back to the 1950′s, the SL class is a roadster, in two body styles: 2 door coupe and 2 door convertible. The latest model was launched in 2008, and it’s the sixth generation of this class. Some of the changes made to this model were in the design and engine areas.
Mercedes Benz SLK Class - introduced in 1997, the SLK is a compact roadster, that comes in both convertible and coupe versions. It was also one of the first convertibles to come with a retractable hardtop, which transformed it from convertible to coupe. The current design of the SLK was launched in 2004.
Mercedes Benz R Class – is a new model, launched in 2006, which belongs to the MPV class (multi purpose vehicle). It was a new niche for Mercedes, since they never produced minivans before. The official designation given by Mercedes names it a sports cruiser. The next facelift will come in 2010, and Mercedes is already working on a replacement for it, as sales were poor for this model.
Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren - a joint effort between a German (Mercedes Benz) and a British car manufacturer (McLaren), the SLR McLaren is a sports car that comes as a roadster and as a coupe, and it’s being produced at a rate of only 500 cars per year, with the total number produced so far being 3500 in 7 years.
Mercedes Benz M Class - though it is a mid-sized SUV, the M class has limited capabilities when it comes to off-road. It was launched in 1997 and it’s produced in the US, even for the European markets. The current generation of the M class was launched in 2006, and it was an almost entirely new model.
Mercedes Benz G Class - with origins as a military vehicle, the G class was first introduced in 1979, and it’s a four wheel drive SUV. The major focus in the design of this car was always to make it a great off-road vehicle, that is rugged, reliable and durable. The current version was introduced in 1990 and it comes in a number of body styles, with 2 and 4 doors, convertible and hardtop.
Mercedes Benz GL Class - is a full size SUV, designed with the American market in mind, which is why it’s bigger than the Audi Q7. The numbers sold in Europe are much smaller than those for the US. It has three rows, and 7 seats, and it will be built in the US and Mexico.
Mercedes Benz GLK Class - a compact crossover SUV, the GLK class was introduced in 2008 for the first time. In the Mercedes lineup, this model sits below the M Class. It will be launched in the US in 2010, at a price around $37,000, which makes it comparable to the price of the BMW X3, its main competitor.
