Subaru Cars
Subaru is part of Fuji Heavy Industries, and it functions as the automobile division. Subaru cars are well known for their preference towards boxer engines and for the fact that since 1996, all their cars come equipped with four wheel drive. The first Subaru car was produced in 1954.
A number of models come in turbocharged versions, a well known model being the Impreza, which has a good record at winning rallies.
Subaru Impreza – launched in 1993, the Impreza belongs to the compact cars category. It comes equipped with four wheel drive and a boxer engine. The current version of the model was launched in 2007, at the New York Auto Show. The Impreza comes in two body styles: 5 door hatchback and 4 door sedan.
Subaru Legacy - launched in 1989, the Subaru Legacy is a mid size car that comes equipped with a symmetrical all-wheel drive. Its main competitors in the US are the Mitsubishi Galant, the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry.
Subaru Outback - launched in 1995, the Subaru Outback is an all wheel drive crossover. The current generation was introduced in 2005, and in 2007 it received the award of best car of 2007 from Top Gear, a popular British car TV show.
Subaru Tribeca - a mid-size crossover SUV, the Subaru Tribeca was launched in 2005, and got a facelift in 2008. It comes in 5 and 7 seat variants. Its main competitors are Dodge Journey, Mitsubishi Endeavor, Hyundai Veracruz and Nissan Murano.
Subaru Forester - introduced in 1997, the Forester is a compact crossover SUV that comes in the body style of a 4 door wagon. The current generation was introduced in 2007 and launched in 2008. For three years in a row, the Car and Driver’s magazine named it the best small SUV.
